John Steven Dwyre

John Steven Dwyre is a member of Sattler & Dwyre, PLLC. Prior to becoming an attorney John proudly served as an Air Force officer and pilot. His military experiences include service in Vietnam during that war. He brings to the practice of law almost ten years of invaluable command and interpersonal training and experience as a squadron commander, pilot, executive officer, missile combat crew commander and command post commander.

After his service in the USAF he received his juris doctor from Texas Tech Law School in 1979 and became licensed to practice in 1980.

Upon being sworn in as an attorney, John was appointed an Assistant Attorney General for the State of Texas and was assigned to the Consumer Protection Division. He was the attorney in charge of the Lubbock Regional Office. After distinguished service in the Attorney General’s office, John opened his own law firm in Lubbock, where he practiced until moving to San Antonio in 1991.

John is Board Certified in two areas by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization:

  • Commercial and Consumer Law and
  • Civil Trial Law

John has over 30 years of experience as a zealous advocate in consumer matters and other types of civil litigation. He has represented both Plaintiffs and Defendants and individuals as well as businesses. He has practiced with the permission of the Court in 13 states other than Texas (CA., AZ., CO., MN., NY., IL., IN., NM., OK., AK., TN., MS., FL., and GA). He is licensed in all Texas State Courts as well as the following Federal Courts:

Supreme Court of the United States, 2004;
United States Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals; 2003;
United States Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, California; 1995;
United States District Court – Northern District of Texas, 1980;
United States District Court – Southern District of Texas. 1998;
United States District Court – Western District of Texas, 1991; and
United States District Court – Eastern District of Texas, 2004.

John served on the Consumer & Commercial Law Section Council of the State Bar of Texas for 19 years and was the chairperson from 1990-1991. John has spoken at continuing legal education seminars too numerous to list but that include State Bar of Texas Professional Development Programs; University of Houston Law Foundation; Texas Tech University School of Law; University of Texas School of Law; University of Houston; St. Mary’s School of Law; and the San Antonio Bar Association.

John earned his Bachelor of Art from New Mexico State University in 1968. John served with distinction as an officer in the United States Air Force from 1968 through 1977. As a veteran of the Vietnam War, squadron commander, pilot, executive officer, missile combat crew commander and command post commander he brings a wealth of practical experience to the practice of law.

John and his wife Rosa live in San Antonio where they raised two children and now enjoy spending time with their grandchildren.
